The purpose of the present work is twofold. On a first stage, it aims at highlighting the\r\ncorruption-related issues in terms of its definitions and different perceptions with respect to\r\nsome economic theories, while stressing the specific factors lying behind the spread of such\r\npractice in the Arab countries. Actually, an emphasis has been put through this research on\r\npoverty, illiteracy, low incomes, poor governance, absence of strong powerful institutions and\r\nState of right and democracy, more generally the prevalence of a rent based economy, in\r\naddition to the impact of special socio-cultural beliefs and practices pertinent to Arab countries\r\nthat constitute the major reasons leading to the aggravation of such blight throughout the whole\r\nregion. Moreover, relying on an empirical study based on panel data model over the period\r\n2005 to 2010, this paper tends to show that there does really exist a statically-significant\r\nrelationship between the riser development size in corruption measured by the corruption\r\nperception index as a dependent variable, and the human development index, press freedom\r\nindex and inflation rate as independent variables. On a second stage, some regulatory\r\nrecommendations have been advanced within the scope of this work, likely to help fight against\r\nsuch a phenomenon by pointing out and curbing its subjacent latent roots, thus drawing these\r\ncountries efforts, precautions measures and attention more on the rather preventive measures\r\ni.e. on economic policy and institutional reforms while stressing the role of taking further\r\nincentives.
